Recorded in Limerick, Ireland, A Year in Ireland includes new arrangements of traditional music from Ireland and Scotland and is centered around Liz Davis Maxfield, cello; Kay Vickers, fiddle; Leslie Anne Harrison, flute; and Frédéric Pouille, guitar. The album also includes guest appearances by Sandra Joyce, voice; Tommy Fitzharris, whistle; Siobhán O'Connell, concertina; and Sean Ó Fearghail, fiddle. Other guest contributors include composer Andrew Maxfield, in his arrangement of track four, The King's Shilling, and flute and whistle player Brian Finnegan, in his arrangement of track eight, Road to Taynuilt.
